Facial Lines & Wrinkles
The term dynamic wrinkles is applied to lines that appear on the face as a result of smiling, laughing, frowning or squinting. They are also known by self explanatory words such as “smile lines”, “laugh lines”, “crow’s feet” or “frown lines”. The contraction of facial muscles over time causes these lines to be engraved on the skin. Additional lines may appear with age and may be exaggerated by exposure to the sun over a period of time. With aging, other lines or folds may appear, due to loss of elasticity of the skin or from the natural result of gravity. The most common of these would be what is called nasolabial folds, or those that extend from the nose downward toward the mouth.
Treatments for Facial Lines & Wrinkles:
Many approaches can be used to successfully treat facial lines, folds and loss of facial volume.
Facial expression lines on the upper third of the face, such as crows feet, horizontal lines on the forehead, and lines between the eyebrows are successfully treated with Botox® injections which cause a relaxation of tiny muscles creating the lines.
For deep facial folds, loss of facial volume such as sunken cheeks, or hollowness under the eyes, deep lines, and lip lines, the proper use of several Filler Products such as Restylane®, Perlane®, and Juvederm® are the treatment of choice. Sculptra® may also be indicated to replace larger areas of volume loss on the face.
For a comprehensive, one session treatment that simultaneously corrects multiple conditions described above, we recommend VolumaLift, in which a physician highly trained in the use of these products injects the appropriate filler product into specific areas of the face. This creates a soft lifting and contouring of the face produced by filling deep folds and restoring volume to sunken areas. A dramatic return of a more youthful look is the end result!
