PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation
PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation is the new gold standard of non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatments. It is emerging as a powerful tool to accelerate the results of Photofacial with AFT Pulsed Light treatments. PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation uses a light sensitizing solution called Levulan prior to the delivery of a light treatment such as PhotoFacial. The light beams activate the solution which in turn boosts the action of the light. In recent clinical studies, the addition of Levulan to a standard PhotoFacial was shown to enhance the results by 30%. Therefore, it is possible to achieve a desired result with a reduced amount of treatments.
PhotoDynamic Rejuvenation consists of three steps. First, the skin is exfoliated with SilkPeel Microdermabrasion. This is followed by the application of Levulan to the area(s) being treated. Levulan is allowed to sit on the skin for 30-60 minutes before being activated by a PhotoFacial. The entire treatment takes approximately 1-2 hours. Direct sun exposure to the treated area(s) is to be completely avoided for 24 hours following the treatment. There may be some redness and peeling for a short period following this treatment, however, normal activities may be resumed immediately. As is the case of all skin rejuvenation processes, the consistent use of a strong sunblock is necessary.
PhotoDynamic Therapy treats the same conditions that PhotoFacial targets, but with accelerated results. We notice a remarkable improvement in many conditions that are found on sun damaged and aging skin after a series of these procedures.. We have found a most dramatic improvement in enlarged pores which have been difficult to reduce with other treatments.
